From the NUDES Collection, this artfully inspired pendant creates a subtle texture on skin defined by a minimalist shape. The perfectly considered sterling silver bead chain is oxidized (blackened) to create a thin line and delicate drape around the neck.

Nude is an artistic euphemism — think figure drawing. The cutout shape is loosely inspired by a model’s pose.

The base is a copper shape that began as a sketch and then re-drawn on the computer. Art files are then sent to the local machine shop. The raw-cut copper pendants have sharp edges that are smoothed and cleaned in the studio, then they are glazed with vitreous glass enamel in the kiln. Melissa chose a neutral fleshy-gray color enamel for one side and a deep steel gray enamel on the opposite side. They go with any outfit and are great for travel!
